Yes what you seen Mairead was hypocracy in action. Hong Kong has never been a seperate nation, they were part of China and then a dependent territory of the UK yet here they are with a seperate team for the Olympics.

Now you therefore have to ask the question, why not the seperate parts of the Political Union that is the UK ?

The Chinese and other commentators speak about political statements not being appropriate during these olympics but what they fail to see is the Political Flag that is The UK flying during these Olympics, The flag of a Political Union and not the flag of a country.

Has anybody noticed how the regular tv news here in the US seems to be ignoring the Olympics sofar? Watched NBC, ABC and CBS off an on during their major news programs, and didn't see a mention of the opening ceremonies yesterday.

Did I hear there is a considerable amount of anti-U.S.A. signs in evidence? That could be a reason the networks are letting it slide.

Re: Saltire Banned

NBC broadcast the opening ceremonies last night and again this morning. Did you see that an American was stabbed to death 5 miles from the Olympic stadium. They are saying it is unrelated to the Olympics but I find that hard to believe since the gentleman killed was the father of a previous American Olympian and father-in-law of the coach of the Men's volleyball team. And the news reports keep saying how unusual it is for a foreigner to be killed in China. If it's not related to the Olympics then it's a pretty big coincidence.

Re: Saltire Banned

I'm sure there will be a revised report, once our athletes are home again. They were hasty to point out that these people were not wearing clothing that would identify their relationship to the U.S. athletes.
