Virtual Mitchell
The link above is to The Virtual Mitchell. It has page after page of old photographs relating to Glasgow. I have found the reidence of my GG Grandmother on this site.
My informative years were in Rutherglen and a search of Rutherglen will bring up the area where I spent my first few years. Slum Dwellings is also an eye opener as to the conditions of working class Glaswegians.
It is well worth having a wee look through this site when you get a chance.

I hae luiked at the Mitchell library website and a downloaded a load ae fotis o ma old stompin ground in Glasgow. It wis rerr tae see it aw again and it reminded me ae ma plooky youth ha ha. A wis luikin at a foti o the Grandfare supermarket, yin ae the forerunners o the modern day supermarkets. It reminded me o a day that ma dad and me wer waitin in the car park for ma mither tae come back, and as a wis waitin, a got oot the car tae play, and a found a whole pound note. Weel a thocht a wis rich. So when mammy got back tae the car, a showed her the pound and quick as a flash, she grabbed it, pit it in her purse and a never saw it again. Sat there howlin so a did, a wis only wee than. mMust hae been aboot 25. Ha Ha. Aseumas.
