I get back from vacation to all this SNOW. :scream: Let's see, it was in the sixties every night and in the low eighties everyday. We went whale watching, took a trip to Pearl Harbor ETC. As soon as I upload pics and videos,I will post them. It's all they say about Hawaii. Wish I could take my family and live there. Long plane ride over five time zones. Hawaii has their own time zone. When we landed at Port Columbus, Jim Tressel was waiting to get on our plane. He even had his red sweater vest on.

I forgot, Hawaii grows their own coffee. My favorite is, Kona Coffee. Best I ever had.

Glad you had a good time Karen.

Here in Perthshire we have snow and more snow. Main road (A9) blocked both ways because of a gritter accident and my eldest rang to say that the main road to Crieff is now blocked as well and she may not get to school, she didn't sound overly bothered about that I have to say.

Look forward to the pics.

Well here we are at 6.45pm and it has been snowing none stop since about 8am and it is still forecast to come down for another 24 hours. They are saying that some places may have as much as 2 foot of snow through today and tomorrow, I personally can't see that amount of snow falling but you just never know.

You should have our weather here in the U.S. not uncommon to see two or more ft. of snow in upper New York, or around our great lakes.

Although we do get snow in Scotland we tend not to get too much. Due to the influence of the gulf stream we tend to have reasonable winters. It is just coming up to 4am here and it has been snowing solid for 20 hours and they are forecasting now that it will continue to snow heavily for another 20 hours. We have already had a power cut but thankfully the power is now back on. We are on the edge of this weather and there is a possibility that it will turn to rain later but places in the highlands may not be so lucky.

I have never known the kids to be off school here with the snow but it looks highly unlikely that they will get there today but we won't know that until about 8am this morning.

This is hopefully the last of the snow this winter and what we have here shouldn't lie long, I hope !!

Well the kids have sat by the radio this morning and gave a cheer when it was announced that their schools were off. We now have about a foot and a half of snow and they have now revised the forecast and expect the snow to run for another 31 hours. We have had numerous power cuts overnight.

Looking at the drive I may even struggle to get the landrover out. Our road is a residential road and it is highly unlikely that thenplough will get round.

About 3 foot of snow and no power for 30 hours. Neighbour asked me to drive him into Stirling, I didn't say no but was rather reluctant as we were snowed in as was all of the surrounding area. It wasn't until he mentioned that his wife was very upset as they were meant to bury her father that day. The decision was made. I managed to get him and his family through the backroads, through ridiculous amounts of snow and the odd abandoned car. I eventually got them to Stirling but then had to worry about how I got back.

A9 was totally shut as the main power line along with numerous smaller lines had collapsed across the road. There was obviously a vast amount of snow on the A9 along with jackknifed lorries in their dozens. All the traffic had built up in Dunblane and nothing was moving. After a short stay in Dunblane I tried to make my way home via the backroads again. Came across a few cars stuck and dug them out with shovel I had in the back of the Landrover. Eventually came across a lad and his wife stuck. Dug them out and advised them to turn around and not to go any further, unfortunately he felt that he could go on. He eventually got well and truly stuck. I then had to tow him about 2 miles to Braco where he stayed with me and the family at the house until about 9pm. He then sat and waited until the A9 reopened when he was able to continue with his journey.

Neighbour had a burst pipe as well that had to be dealt with and thankfully managed a botch job until it can be looked at properly.

My Landrover may have been put together by two five year old on a science project. Even as I was towing another car up a hill in heavy snow I noticed the water pouring in through the sunroof but the quality of this car in these conditions is utterly amazing, simply a stunning car when it needs to be, you just need to put the build quality to one side and look at what it is capable of doing.

Thankfully power is now on again but I have already been out this morning towing people up the road after they had driven down to the wee shop to get a paper

Thank you Liz but it would just not been right to ignore people when they are in trouble. I am sure 99.9% of people would do the exact same thing.

I would like to think that it is still so, but when you watch the news and see man's indifference to man, you tend to become cynical. It is good to see the ethos of 'Help they neighbor' still hale and hardy.

The boys high school basketball state championship tournament started this week. And people in Indiana know that the sectional tournament means we are due to get a heavy snowfall, known as the Sectional Snow.

It's meant to be 40° / 4° today and over the weekend, we are meant to see temperatures as high as 50° / 10°. :thinkn: What is up with that?? We're talking warmer temperatures than we've seen since back in early November.
I'm tickled pink, because the Sectional Snow is generally our last snow of the season! :ohyeah: The tulips and daffies are pushing their way up, too. Does this mean the world is going to finally get some color again?
Oh, but let me tell you that I love you and I think about you all the time. Caledonia, you're calling me and now I'm going home.

Mike

Where have you been? I have even spoke to Mrs M to say I was going to email you to check things were ok. Still plenty of snow here but we have temperatures above freezing during the day and below at night so the thaw is a bit of hit and miss at the minute. Thankfully we have no more snow forecast for the moment. I personally have never seen so much snow in Scotland.

My car said it was 54° today when I left work and the sun was shining!! It was so nice to see the sun again. They said on the news that we only saw the sun twice during the month of February!! Maybe spring is finally going to show up! :hooray:

@Maitland - I've been about, just moving quickly from here to there. My customary greetings to all, if you please. As the game applications count continues to increase on Facebook, I find my participation level decreasing. I log in, block a half-dozen game applications, get pissed and log back out again. I'm still very active on Twitter, so you can almost always reach me there.

@Starring - I was a bit unnerved this morning, as there is a definite brightening in the eastern skies. :winkn: I think you're correct, two days of sun during the entire month of February. But the good news is there isn't a cloud in the sky this morning and it's meant to be that way all day and tomorrow too! How are we going to act? I'm going to try and verify my suspicions tomorrow. I seem to recollect my truck is actually red and I'm headed to the car wash to give it some TLC and to find out how well my memory is working.

I got my car washed and it looked great, until I had to drive home from Mom's in the rain. The spray from the trucks made it look like I had driven through a salt mine. Yuck! Back to the car wash. I hope the weather stays nice, I need to clean out my garage. It's driving me crazy!

Yeah, and don't forget you need to clean mine out too.

 Well, you can't fault a guy for trying...

I can't believe it is as warm as it is. Not quite 6:00 AM and it's 52° / 11°, with an expected high of 63° / 17°. :hooray:

Yes, but what about the rain? UGH! We still have snow on the ground here. It is melting and what a mess. Water standing everywhere.

We are up to about +11 during the day. It is still freezing overnight so the snow is taking its time to shift. Neighbours are back on Monday and I am hoping that it will have gone by then, that way I won't have to dig out their drive and car. There is still just over a foot of snow but that has frozen over the last two weeks and is now over a foot of compact ice. My 9 stone is easily supported on it.

Spring had sprung as we have the first lambs in the fields. The farmers have had to plough the fields of snow to allow these wee things to run around. The fields are still under about two feet of snow at the minute.

Church this afternoon (not me of course before you all think I have taken a turn and found God !). Elise is being confirmed in June and has had to go through classes before the ceremony. The last time I had a conversation with the teachers down there I was left with the words "We will pray for you, hard" I tend to just leave her there now and go for a wee walk, best for everybody I think.
